Too Bad to y'all who missed the 4th of July brew-ha shakin' down on Beale! I've never seen such fireworks, crowds or partying...don't miss Rum Boogie music, and if you're at King's Palace Cafe, give Nighthawk a hard time for me! Loved it, and I'm heading back in May.

While thumbing through my memories I find myself walking down Beale St. - listening to the music and enjoying the party around me. I think of the people I met - Larry Geller, Tater Red, the shoe shine boy, and I get teary-eyed. I wish to be there this week to celebrate the gift of the blues and everything Memphis has to offer. Thank you for the little treasure of Memphis,Tennessee -

I was on Beale St. on the 9/4, the Friday before the labor day festival. My father, sat in with Jerry Moss and Jerry Bone at a popular site on the street, and played harmonica for him. I as well as the crowd there thought that the three of them together were by far the best act on Beale. Jerry Moss is one of the best guitar players I have ever heard. While I was there I heard him play a version of Stevie Ray Vaughan's "The Sky Is Crying" that Stevie himself probably gave a standing ovation directly from heaven! I also believe that my father, on another song did one of the best harmonica solos I have ever heard as well. Hey it MUST be good to bring a crowd of passers by on the street into the club just to see who is playing. I think B.B. King would have a tough time keeping up with these guys, and he has his own club!

Just got home after 5 days in Memphis. I loved it. Stayed at the Peabody hotel and I fell in love with Beale Street. We made the Parade and I brought home maybe 50 bead necklaces. Memphis is a great town and I strongly recomend the ribs at the Blue City Cafe. They were wonderful! Can't wait to go back. Thank you MEMPHIS and Beale Street.

I spent last week in Memphis. I was there for a seminar but at night I spent most of my time on Beale St. I did hit most of the shop and night spots. I can't explain how much fun I had. Realizing this is the "off-Season" for that area, I still had a great time. I can't imagine what it would be like with the street full of people! I loved the Ribs, I love the music, and I love the memories. If your in Memphis, look for DEVAN YANKIN. One of the best musicians and singers I've heard in a long time! Saw him at Dick's. Thanks, Memphis for the great time!

We visited Beale Street for the first time 2 years ago and have been returning every since on our vacation. Last year we brought our nephew and he went crazy!! He'll be returning with us along with some other family members. Once you've experienced Beale Street, you have to go back if you love the Blues. Wish we had something like it in California. See you in May.

I think Beale St. is the coolest place in Memphis. My sister used to live in West Memphis, and every time my mom and I and my friends come down there, we always go down on Beale St. Now my sister lives in Mississippi, but even still to this day when we go down there, we still go down on Beale St. The shops are just awesome, the blues is to much and the food and drink cafe's are unreal. I recommend anyone that goes to Tennessee, and not go down on Beale St. needs to have their head examined. Or even if your pretty close, go out of your way and go down there, I promise you won't regret it. It's way to cool. Sharon from Kansas.

I'm from East London. I first visited Memphis in 1987, I loved it!!!! In 2000 my family were in Florida on vacation. We were fed up with all things "Plastic", so I said "lets go to Memphis". After an 800 mile drive through the south, we re-visited Beale St, and a few other place not there in '87. I STILL LOVE MEMPHIS...... Your town rocks!!!!!!!

Beale Street is the best place to be. If you are ever in the Memphis area and looking for a good time, BEALE STREET. It rocks. Some friends of mine came down from Texas for my sisters graduation and we all went to Beale. They said they had the best time of their lives!!!! They were amazed that you could walk down the street and drink. Needless to say we all had a good time and got drunk. But someone had to be the sober one!!! So I choose to. But next time t is someone elses turn 'cause I am going to party my heart out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I visited Beale St. in Memphis Tenn. this weekend for the first time and I was blown away. I have been into the blues for sometime now and have been to many blues festivals. Living in Louisiana I have also been to the French Quarter in New Orleans many times. Nothing compares to Beale St. It really is the home of the blues. Everyone was friendly and ready to party. I spent most of my the weekend at Legends. That is the club to visit if you want to hear the real thing. Earl the Pearl rocked the house all night long. If you prefer more rockin blues the band outside was top notch playing Voodoo Chile like Hendrix or SRV. Three other bands were featured at Legends that weekend and all were worthy. I cant wait to get back.

I recently went to Memphis to attend a wedding the weekend of April 28 - May 1 and I have to say that MEMPHIS IS THE BOMB!!!! I had a great time and the people of Memphis are the friendliest people I have ever met. I went down on Beale Street and had the best Margarita ever and I had a taste of some southern grain liquor and since being back in my home city Milwaukee where we here are known for summer festivals, beer, and practically a bar on every corner. I just had to say that I had a DAYUM GOOD TIME IN MEMPHIS! and I am looking forward to visiting again real soon.

Can't wait till The Beale Street Music Festival - it's almost time. Beale St. @ 1:00 am, the music, the food, the people. It is the greatest festival of all time. The countdown has begun. Hey Austin get those mint juleps ready.

I visited Beale St. for the first time about 2 weeks ago... I was amazed! I was absolutely scared to death of Memphis. But I will return SOON because of Beale. To those who are planning a trip... DO NOT pass up Rum Boogie Cafe. James Govan and The Boogie Blues Band are to die for... do you like Otis Redding? Need I say more? If you get the chance, dance with Daryl the doorman.... he is a blast! And if you get the chance, tell him Aimee in Chicago says HI! OOPS! Nearly forgot!!! Try the red beans & rice.... Tell me what you think

I shall return to Beale Street in early August; the first visit since I left there in 1950. I look forward to the park where my grandfather, the Chief of Police at the turn of the century, (William J. Hayes) told me of the great William C. Handy. (I also remember this Irishman taking me to the monument on the bluff to a black man who jumped into the waters of the Mississippi River and personally saved scores of lives from a sinking riverboat.) From the Malco to Abe's to the nights I strolled and heard America's Music, Memphis to me has always meant Beale Street. Not Graceland, not the "pyramid," but Beale Street. I have lived long enough to return for barbecue, a cold one, and a listen to blues. I look forward to it.

Hey, are you the guys that go around and get girls to flash by passing out beads on Beale Street? I noticed a lot more beads AND boobs for that matter on Beale street this last year (2003) Thanks for doing you part! See ya next year, and I'm wearing my own beads!
